Frequently Asked Questions
How does the 6.5 PRC perform compared to other long-range hunting cartridges?
The 6.5 PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge) is a high-performance, short-action cartridge that drives heavy, high-BC 6.5mm bullets at velocities typically exceeding 2,900 fps from a 24" barrel. Compared to the 6.5 Creedmoor, it offers a meaningful velocity advantage—roughly 200–300 fps more—making it an excellent choice for hunting at extended ranges up to and beyond 800 yards. It delivers flat trajectories, minimal wind drift, and hard-hitting terminal performance on medium to large game such as deer, elk, and pronghorn.
Is the SA Radial Muzzle Brake removable, and can I add a suppressor?
Yes, the SA Radial Muzzle Brake on the Springfield Waypoint is removable. The barrel is threaded, allowing you to swap the muzzle brake for a compatible suppressor or other muzzle device. Always verify thread pitch compatibility with your suppressor manufacturer before purchasing, and ensure any suppressor purchase complies with applicable federal, state, and local regulations including NFA requirements.
What makes the TriggerTech trigger on the Waypoint stand out?
TriggerTech is renowned in the precision rifle community for its Frictionless Release Technology, which eliminates the traditional sear-on-sear friction found in conventional triggers. The result is an exceptionally consistent, crisp break with virtually no creep or overtravel. On the Waypoint, the trigger is user-adjustable from 2.5 to 5 pounds without tools, allowing you to tune it to your preferred pull weight whether you're hunting in cold-weather gloves or shooting from a bench at the range.
