The Remington HyperSonic Steel 12 Gauge shotgun shells deliver the highest muzzle velocity ever achieved in a steel waterfowl load, giving hunters a decisive edge on fast-moving birds at maximum range.

  • Blazing 1,700 fps muzzle velocity reduces required lead by 8" at 40 yards
  • 1-1/4 oz. of #2 steel shot for dense, hard-hitting patterns on ducks and geese
  • 3-inch shell length maximizes powder charge and shot payload capacity
  • Proprietary Remington wad technology enables unprecedented downrange pattern energy
  • Steel shot construction is safe for all non-toxic shot-required waterfowl zones
  • 25 rounds per box — ready for a full day in the blind or marsh

Who This Is For

Remington HyperSonic Steel is built for serious waterfowl hunters who want every advantage when ducks and geese are working at the edge of ethical range. Whether you're hunting flooded timber, open water, or large marshes where birds flare before getting close, this load's extreme velocity keeps patterns tight and terminal energy high — without requiring you to change your lead timing or shooting style.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Remington HyperSonic Steel approved for use in federally designated non-toxic shot zones?

Yes. HyperSonic Steel uses steel shot, which is an approved non-toxic shot material under U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service regulations. It is fully legal for waterfowl hunting in areas where only non-toxic shot is permitted, including all migratory bird hunting in the United States.

Will the high velocity of this load damage my shotgun's barrel or choke?

Because HyperSonic Steel uses steel shot, you should use only chokes rated for steel shot — typically Improved Cylinder or Modified at tightest. Full choke constrictions are not recommended with steel loads. The shells are safe for any standard 12-gauge, 3-inch chamber shotgun when used with an appropriate steel-rated choke tube.

How does #2 steel shot compare to larger sizes like BB or #1 for duck hunting?

#2 steel shot is one of the most versatile waterfowl loads available, striking the ideal balance between pellet count and individual pellet energy. It carries enough mass to cleanly harvest mallards, pintails, and similar-sized ducks out to 40+ yards, while delivering a denser pattern than larger BB or #1 shot. For geese or very long shots, stepping up to BBB or T-shot may be preferred, but for most duck hunting scenarios, #2 steel is an excellent all-around choice.
