Frequently Asked Questions
Is this magazine truly blocked to 10 rounds and legal in California?
Yes. This ProMag drum magazine is permanently blocked to a 10-round capacity, making it compliant with California's magazine capacity restrictions. The large drum body holds 65 rounds in its original configuration, but this version is sold as a California-blocked variant limited to 10 rounds. Always verify current state and local regulations before purchasing any magazine.
Which AR-15 rifles and configurations will this magazine fit?
This magazine is designed to fit standard AR-15 platform rifles chambered in 5.56 NATO or .223 Remington. It uses a standard STANAG-compatible magazine catch interface. As with any drum magazine, we recommend confirming fitment with your specific lower receiver, particularly if you're running an aftermarket or pistol-format lower, as clearances can vary.
How durable is the ProMag polymer body, and does it require break-in?
The magazine body is constructed from a proprietary DuPont Zytel-based polymer, which is known for its high impact resistance, dimensional stability, and resistance to oils and solvents. The feed lips are reinforced with over-molded stamped steel for long-term reliability. Some users recommend running a few slow hand-cycles when first loading to ensure smooth operation, but no formal break-in period is required. ProMag backs every magazine with a lifetime guarantee against manufacturer's defects.

Good but not great
I really like this drum. It adds a certain esthetic to the rifle when the mag is loaded. However I have 2 complaints. 1, I really have to smack it into my lower to get it to engage the mag catch. 2, I had to disassemble and reassemble this mag as it would not feed correctly. The plastic bullets that sit in the mag to make sure all rounds make it to the top of the mag was installed incorrectly. It would constantly bind after a few rounds. It's definitely not from a lack of lubrication. There was plenty inside the mag drum. But after realignment it cycles all 10 rounds as expected. If I didn't have to fix a loading issue right out the gate and to fix someone else's mistake for the price I paid, I would've given 4 stars.
