Who This Is For

This magazine is the ideal choice for California-based shooters, competitive marksmen, and AK-caliber AR enthusiasts who want a compliant, high-quality magazine without sacrificing the ergonomics and engineering quality they expect. If you run a 7.62x39mm AR-15 and need a feeder that simply works — round after round, trigger pull after trigger pull — DURAMAG's stainless steel construction and purpose-built geometry make it the go-to solution over generic alternatives that struggle with tapered case feeding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the 7.62x39mm caliber present feeding challenges in AR-15 magazines?

The 7.62x39mm cartridge features a pronounced taper that was originally designed for the AK-pattern rifle's curved magazine well. Adapting this cartridge to the straighter AR-15 magazine well has historically caused feeding failures, misfeeds, and reliability issues with generic magazines. DURAMAG addressed this by engineering a magazine body and feed geometry specifically optimized for tapered case feeding in the AR platform, resulting in consistent, reliable cycling round after round.

Is the 10-round block permanent, and can it be removed?

Yes — the DURAMAG California-compliant magazine uses a proprietary block secured with a rivet, making the restriction permanent and tamper-evident. This design is intentional and ensures the magazine meets the legal requirements of California and other states with capacity restrictions. Attempting to remove the block would damage the magazine and is not recommended or supported by the manufacturer.

Will this magazine fit my 7.62x39mm AR-15 build or pistol?

This DURAMAG magazine is designed to fit any standard AR-15 lower receiver with a mil-spec magazine well, as long as the firearm is chambered in 7.62x39mm. It is not compatible with 5.56/.223 or other calibers, nor will it function in AK-pattern rifles. If you are unsure whether your specific build accepts 7.62x39mm AR magazines, consult your firearm's manufacturer specifications before purchasing.

Worked great for communist Washington state

Was able to secure this prized Duramag to end my ftf nightmare with my mutant .762x39 AR. Shot perfect 200 rounds so far and no ftf. With the 10 round it came with, it jammed almost every cycle. Hard to find and rarely in stock, buy them while you can.

    Sturdy and well put together

Company had great shipping time. Great quality magazine and very hard to find CA legal full size magazine in 762. Price per mag was a little hard to accept, but given the scarcity, I really had no other option. Not a dig at the Company, comes down to availability and supply and demand.
